First of all I must thank Intel for the oportunity of going to their AppLab.
In this lab we got introduced to MeeGo and to AppUp, they showed us how to program a couple of simple apps with their SDK 1.2 and we got an ExoPC with MeeGo to develop on the device.
This post is dedicated to the ExoPC with MeeGo and to the first impressions it gives to me.
Lets start with the hardware of ExoPC Slate, the fabricant fabricant web says this tablet has:
-Multitouch capacitative screen of 11,6 inches (1366×768).
-2GB RAM.
-Intel Atom Pineview-M N450 1.66 GHz – 64 bit support
-Intel GMA 3150 BROADCOM Crystal HD 1080p
-Webcam 1.3MP
Weights 950g and is 295 x 195 x 14.0 mm.

The tablet (has only one button).
It has a Windows 7 Home Premium licence sticker if you look close enough!
It has HDMI, 2x USB, Audio Jack, SD reader, and a dock that you cant see because its under the device (the little port there I don’t know what it is, maybe for SIMs).
Booting it!
First boot: failure, it was there stopped for a lot of minutes
Desktop just booted (before I got a screensaver-like screen)
The device in “phone” mode (when you hit in “all the apps”, this is what you get)
Chromium as navigator works well
Calculator app… ITS BIG AS HELL
A terminal… the keyboard-on-screen does not appear… solution: use a usb keyboard
Oh! We found a ?bug? if you touch 2 times the upper bar and you move it to the bottom you get a menu that seems to be some kind of debugging thing.
About the behaviour… its pretty bad. It gets stuck, sometimes its hard to change orientation, its hard to connect to a wifi for the first time… it shutdown once without me doing anything. The apps are pretty poor. The multitouch does not work.
But we are here to improve all of that!

Cuando tenga tiempo intentaré contactar con los de Intel AppUp a ver si me pueden decir de donde puedo sacar esa version de MeeGo que muestran, porque la que trae… desde luego deja que desear. En realidad no he probado nada de su SDK aun y quizá ahí encontremos algo pero bueno. Primero tengo que echar para adelante un par de cosas!

La verdad es que la versión que mostraban de Meego parecia mucho más depurada de la que viene de serie.
Lo que yo me pregunto es, ¿como se puede actualizar el SO de Meego? ¿Vendrá algún tipo de sistema automático de actualizaciones como Ubutnu?

Se le puede instalar linux ya que es como un ordenador cualquiera, lo que pasa que no se como esta el tema de usar la pantalla tactil en linux.
Por hardware hecho en falta algún botón físico. Solo tiene un “botón” que realmente es táctil (bueno ni eso, funciona por luz, si le tapas la luz totalmente reacciona). Por el resto… no tep uedo decir mas, porque no se nada mas.

Un multiadaptador de corriente era la caja pequeñita. El cacharro en si viene con enchufe de USA. Y es un cacharro con adaptador para UK, España y otro tipo que no se de donde sera (china?).
Y sobre andar loco por desarrollar… yo estaba igual al principio, pero por ahora no he encontrado como desarrollar en linux, que dicen que no está soportado aun. Ni en windows 7 64 bits… mi windows casualmente… xD
En fin, a ver si mañana tengo un rato y me lo vuelvo a mirar y encuentro solución facil.

A ver si se puede en linux. Vamos, que en linux no pudiesemos desarrollar para un tablet con S.O. basado en Linux es para caerse de culo XD.
Pero bueno, yo no tengo tablet aun, así que… Tampoco sabemos fecha de cuando nos llegaran (si es que llegan), así que solo toca esperar…

Ya te digo que no es nada del otro mundo. Yo la tengo en una mochila aparcada desde que se la enseñé a unos amigos. Hasta que no pueda programar en linux, y hasta que el sistema no aguante estable al menos media hora sin apagarse la pantalla/reiniciarse/bloquearse… pues tampoco sirve de mucho.
